The effectiveness of ultrasonic therapy has been established by leading medical institutions & many doctors & physical therapists recommend ultra sound to treat muscle & soft tissue injuries. ….
I should clarify that I am a massage therapist and personal trainer, I am just looking to use this device as an added therapy to my practice. I know about stretching and strengthening opposing muscles. Just wanted more feedback, possibly from a fellow massage therapist. 
Using ultrasound without the guidance of a physician, chiropractor or physical therapist is generally outside the scope of practice of massage therapists. Although you should review your state practice laws specifically.
Generally speaking, however, ultrasound is a RELATIVELY safe treatment modality, but DOES come with some serious risks if you have not been trained to use it effectively. Possibly side effects include burns, destruction of a growth plate, metastisis of a growing tumor, cavitation, etc. Most “home” based units are usually not powerful enough to do this as their max power is generally 0.5 w/cm2. This is below the thermal threshold. Which is a knundrum for you because it sounds like you would use it for the thermal effects anyway. If you did get your hands on a unit that could go up to at least 1 w/cm2 then you could have signfiicant thermal effects, but again, this is the type of ultrasound that poses the greatest risk of injury. If you are not trained in how to assess for whom US is appropriate, I would not do it. Again, I think your state practice act is a good place to start. It’s not worth loosing your license.
